0:00Justin: Hey, Andrew.

0:00Andrew: Hey, Justin.

0:01Justin: Okay, we're back. We're in a. We're in a weird configurement. We're in our homes.

0:06Andrew: We're in the. In between is what we'll call in between.

0:09Justin: This is all the ohl. Like, it's all. It's all the league's fault because there was a game on our regular Tuesday record night last week. We record on Wednesday, which also had a game like, they really just don't want us to record. This podcast is basically what I'm learning.

0:24Andrew: I mean, thankfully, thankfully, the AudPodience does want us to record this podcast. We're pushing through.

0:32Clip: They're.

0:32Andrew: They're trying to annihilate the AudPod from within the OHL with this scheduling. So listen, just next year, just let us know ahead of time and we can schedule our pod around the games rather than picking a night and then just. Yeah, sticking to it.

0:49Justin: Yeah, I'm sure that will work. Great.

0:51Andrew: So listen, we are. We are in our homes tonight, but tomorrow we will be at the odds. Of course we are. We are recording on Monday night right now. Monday, Thanksgiving Monday. But tomorrow night you'll have already, you'll. You'll hear this. This is long in the past, but Tuesday we'll be recording from the Aud So.

1:11Justin: So like, the best case scenario, we're like sitting center ice recording a podcast. Worst case scenario, we're recording in my car after the game outside the Aud three, vaguely with it in the background.

1:24Andrew: All right, okay. Okay, cool. We can do that. I'm good. I'm good with that. Parking lot is the first step maybe to.

1:31Justin: Yeah, yeah.

1:31Andrew: To getting in the Aud But what. What we will do is we will recap that game so you'll hear that through the magic of editing later on in this episode, it'll actually be on Tuesday night outside the Aud I'm going to say that I'm going to. Under promise.

1:47Justin: Yeah, under promise.

1:48Andrew: Over deliver.

1:49Justin: Hopefully we can over deliver.

1:50Andrew: Yeah, yeah.

1:51Justin: Yes. So that. That is currently the plan.

1:54Andrew: So, yeah, we will break down four games eventually.

1:58Justin: Yes. In. In this episode. But right now, these voices that you currently hear are going to. Just recap. 3. Welcome to the AudPod, where we're

2:12Andrew: talking Kitchener Rangers hockey with the AudBalls themselves, Andrew and Justin.

2:19Justin: Take it away, fellas.

2:23Andrew: Do they sound like Monday voices? They feel like Monday voices.

2:26Justin: Well, we did just watch the Jays lose pretty horribly, so that's true. Yeah, yeah. But we. But we did make it to the second. The second third round. I don't know how the rounds work.

2:36Andrew: The ALCs, as it were.

2:38Justin: Yes, the. The round that the Leafs don't make it to

2:44Andrew: participation.

2:45Justin: Okay, let's. Let's just hop into it, Andrew. Let's just get right. Let's do business. Game one, the Flint Firebirds. So you told me this one over with.

2:53Andrew: Let's actually, you know what? Let's skip this one. Never mind.

2:56Justin: You know what? Last week you told me you were like, Justin, you have to remember that we have to recap this game. No, no, no, I don't want to.

3:03Andrew: No, skip it. Skip this one. Skip this one because.

3:06Justin: Okay, quickly.

3:08Andrew: They kind of skipped this one after the first period themselves. Okay. They perfectly fair to everybody.

3:14Justin: Yeah. So the, the Flint Firebirds. We were in Flint, Wednesday, October 8th. We lost three. Nothing. That was after three full periods. And the Rangers had half their shots in the game before Flint got a shot on goal.

3:29Andrew: Yes. I thought that it was going to be an absolute demolition of a hockey game. I was watching it and I was like, yeah, this is, this is, this is exactly what I expected. Flat Flint is not supposed to be good this year. You know, they're always kind of like, you know, they're always kind of feisty, but they're not supposed to be good. And it was like, shots were 10 nothing. And I was like, all right, so this is, this is gonna get ugly real quick. And the Aud just didn't. It was a weird game.

4:03Justin: It's such a weird game.

4:05Andrew: I mean, it, it's. What do you break down? They, they, they, they got out shot 16 to 4 in the second period. Like it was like a completely different two teams. Like the two teams from the first

4:19Justin: period just body swapped.

4:20Andrew: Yeah. Freaky Friday type situation. It was like.

4:24Justin: The only good thing to really talk about from the second period was Kirsch got like a crazy save. And that was like.

4:31Andrew: He was there. He played the whole. He played. He played really well the whole game.

4:35Justin: Because they did not score in the second period, even though. Yeah, like, the Rangers didn't score in the first. They should have because they were dominating. Flint didn't score in the second even though they should have, because they were dominating. And then in the third, like, the Rangers let up two breakaways that led to goals.

4:52Andrew: The wheels just fell. They weren't even power play goals. Like it was just right away, three minutes, 50 seconds in, Flint scores. That's the game winner. There was no pushback. There was no, like, you know, the Rangers were out shot 12 to 6. In this, in this period. It was Just one of those. Like, everybody was just lethargic. It was a weird game. It was like they went to sleep. I watched. I saw Friend of the Pod, Mike Farwell's story. I saw that the Rangers lost three to nothing. Even though I was watching the Jays Yankees game, which was a classic. And I was amped up. And then I thought to myself, was it worse to have to call that game in a three nothing, lethargic loss and missed the Jays game? Or was it worse to have watched the Jays game, saw the result of the Rangers game. And now have to go back knowing the result and watch the full game? I don't know. It's kind of like a lose, lose situation there.

5:49Justin: I think no matter what, it was worse for Mike. Maybe gets paid by the goal. We don't really know what Mike.

5:55Andrew: He only gets paid if they win. Could you imagine? Then he's like a real homer. No. Yeah, that wouldn't be Mike.

6:02Justin: Although some of the broadcasts, they could. They might work that way.

6:06Clip: Like.

6:07Justin: Although not this weekend. I. Who was it last year that like the. the. Aud must be. Is it eerie that has the really crazy bias broadcast in the States?

6:16Andrew: Gonna be honest, I thought it was Saginaw.

6:19Justin: And I thought so too. But the broadcast was great this year.

6:22Andrew: The broadcast was great. And I loved all their graphics, their overlays. Saginaw, like, unbelievable production quality. Props to the Saginaw team. Really impressed. But back to Flint. I didn't think they were. I thought the guy. I actually texted you and said the guy, the broadcaster in Flint was doing a great job.

6:43Justin: Yeah, he. He was awesome. I. I was totally impressed.

6:46Clip: Yep.

6:47Justin: I want to move on from this game because. I don't want to talk about it.

6:49Andrew: No, because there's really nothing to talk about.

6:52Justin: There were guys breaking sticks at the end of the game. And that's how I felt too. I was.

6:55Andrew: Yeah.

6:55Justin: If I had a stick, I would break it right now as well.

6:58Andrew: Insane thing was, the teams were combined over 8 on the power play. So it was really.

7:02Justin: I know.

7:02Andrew: Really boring.

7:04Justin: So boring.

7:05Andrew: Yeah.

7:06Justin: Okay. And then we. After the Flint game, we went.

7:09Andrew: We took the long road to the

7:13Justin: Soo A real long road to the.

7:17Andrew: Even. An even longer drive back from the Soo Let me tell you that much.

7:20Justin: Oh, I wouldn't want to be Lechar because he was on the bus for longer than anybody.

7:25Andrew: Little bit of a Noah Robert situation. Except. On the bus. Yeah, on the bus.

7:30Justin: Yes. So we were in the Soo and we lost in overtime, five to four. At one point we were up three to nothing at one point.

7:40Andrew: They were up four to one. So yeah, that's not. Not what you want.

7:45Justin: So it's not the right finale. No.

7:48Andrew: I will say that it looked like the boys had come to bounce back from the Flint game. I was really excited about the effort, especially in like the first. I don't even want to say half of the game, but the first period. And the first five minutes of the second period, I was like, okay, like this is. This is good. And the Aud just kind of started to tilt against them a little bit. It just started to tilt against them a little bit. And even the last 15 minutes, last 10 minutes of the second period, it wasn't terrible. It was still four to two going into the third. Or actually that's a lie. It was. No, it was four to two going into the third.

8:30Justin: Yeah. Because it should have been four to one going into.

8:33Andrew: Because the Soo scored really late. Right. But I will.

8:37Justin: I won't.

8:37Andrew: I won't discount that goal necessarily. Because Andrew MacNiel got the weirdest first goal possibly ever. Where he scores shorthanded from his own, like red circle, like off the face off dot area. Like. That's a long ways. That's a long ways.

9:01Justin: I laughed because this was exactly the Rasmus Anderson goal from. Was it game one of. What year was that? 2022, when the Flames and the Oilers played in the playoffs.

9:12Andrew: You remember the year. What happened in that?

9:15Justin: Well, they. The Flames lost and we all remember that.

9:18Andrew: But they blew a 3 nothing lead in that game too, didn't they?

9:23Justin: Yeah. Soupy. So actually this is exactly the same situation because.

9:28Andrew: Yeah, yeah, yeah. The wheels just fell off. It's bizarre. It's weird.

9:33Justin: Yeah.

9:34Andrew: This was one of those games where when that McNeil goal goes in, I'm like, oh, okay. Like they. This is just going to be one of those games where like Kitchener just kind of runs away. What I will say about this team so far, I don't want to get too far ahead, but it does seem like when the Rangers. This version of the Rangers. Because I know we got some absolute studs not in the lineup that are slated to come back. That are slated to join the team for the very first time. Oscar Hemming, I'm looking at you.

10:05Justin: Yep.

10:06Andrew: Yep. But what I will say is this team seems to get conservative when they get a lead, even a decent lead. It seems like there is a. An emphasis on defense. And I will Sam O'Reilly don't want to get ahead of myself. But I will say in a. In the next game we're going to preview. It works. But against the Soo it felt like it got away from him. So let's just run it back to the first period. Cameron Arquette, who is literally a man on fire right now with Haeden Ellis, another man going crazy, and Christian Humphreys, you know, the trinity of just heat seeking missiles right now, 1 minute 20 seconds into the game. They connect. I'm like, all right, here we go. The boys.

10:51Justin: It was a weird goal. It was a weird goal the Soo Like, it was like, yeah, it kind of like trickled through the legs of Miller and just like that had no right to be a goal. But obviously we'll take it.

11:01Andrew: But you take it and it's like one of those things that like after a 3 nothing sleepy loss, you're like, that's exactly the type of goal that needs to go in. It goes off a skate or something in front, right? Like Archie Arky throws it in front and it kind of redirects and it goes in and you're like, you know what? That's the type of goal to get out of like a mini slump of like not scoring. That's the type of goal you need though to kind of get off the schneide a little bit. And that, that three nothing loss really felt worse than I think it was. It didn't feel like one game. It felt like this, like, oh, like, like what are we doing? So I'm, I'm excited right off the bat. Anyway, they're up one nothing, right. They get a lucky one. And that whole first period, that was a Rangers period, through and through.

11:48Justin: Yeah. For sure. Yep. Yeah. Pure domination. There was no. It was. This is what I felt like the result for in Flint should have been after the first period. Like. Agreed, agreed. Yeah. Because it was the same level of intensity that they came out with. It was like. So we had all these sleepy starts to start the season and now we've had these not so sleepy starts and it's been varying degrees of success.

12:12Andrew: Right? Yeah, it's weird. It's like been the opposite of what you would expect. Jack LaBrash got on the score sheet, got his first of the season, really nice goal. Him and Lachara and Ellis. It was a really nice goal. He went to the net. It was, it was exactly what you want to see out of a big guy like Lebrash. And then of course, before the end of the first is over, Arquette pots a second one for his fifth. He's already got five goals.

12:36Justin: I know, it's insane.

12:37Andrew: It's crazy. Haeden Ellis, Christian Humphreys again, they're just like, like I said, they're just automatic. There's so much chemistry there. Like the bad goals are going in, the good goals are going in. It's just beautiful connection right there. Lots of chemistry for this early in the season and Cameron Arquette having this crazy breakout campaign. Then we go into the second period and you know, they get a goal about six, six and a half minutes into it. But then like we mentioned before, the Andrew MacNiel goal goes in. That's late. So it's 4 to 1 and then that power play. So at the end of the second period, we have to talk about this briefly. At the end of the second period, there's a five minute match penalty for blindsiding.

13:23Justin: Yes, this was the Lechar panel. This is why he was on the bus.

13:26Andrew: Yes. Matthew Hlacar 17 minutes and 18 seconds, you know, into the second period, only, you know, two and a half minutes left. Blindsides the guy. It wasn't the most violent hit, I will say that. But it was very late.

13:44Justin: Yes. Yeah, yeah, it was late. Very. Yes. The guy did not have the puck for a long time before.

13:52Andrew: I'll give Lechar the benefit of the doubt that he had. He had, you know, locked on and he was committing to the hit while he still had the puck. But there was more than enough time to maybe change directions.

14:08Justin: I think he could have got to the other side of the ice. The amount of time.

14:13Andrew: I will Sam O'Reilly probably. He probably could have also just like held up a bit and made a little contact.

14:20Justin: Yeah, just a little bump.

14:22Andrew: He, I mean, had he like full out hit him, he could have really, really hurt the kid. So he didn't. It wasn't as violent as it could have been, but it was so late that it was still violent, if that makes sense.

14:34Clip: Right.

14:34Justin: He just wasn't expecting. He was fully not expecting.

14:37Andrew: Yeah, it's like, you know, and he probably, I don't know if, if he's hurt, but he probably avoided a bit of injury because, you know, when you're just like loose, the Soo like if you just go loose because you're not expecting it. Hopefully that's what happened. So has been suspended for, for the hit.

14:55Justin: How many games did he get?

14:56Andrew: So I would suspect three games because it wasn't as violent as maybe it could have been. But it was really late and he is a repeat offender. I would be surprised if it was five games. So anyway, this is what's important is with he so the. Soo the. The Greyhounds are on the power play for the last two and a half minutes of this period, and with about 30 seconds left in the period, they get a goal. And I despise those last minute of the period goals when you're the team giving it up because it feels it's. It feels like it's. It's way more likely that you are going to give up the lead in the next period if you give up one of those goals. I don't know what the data says, but I can tell you it certainly feels like if you give up one of those last period goals, it's like almost guaranteed that they're coming back to at least tie the game. And they did.

15:58Justin: And they did and they did. Well. It gave them the worst lead in hockey. Yeah, because they. Because the Rangers were winning 4 to 2 going into the. The period. Then after that goal and yeah, they. They didn't come out with much of a fight in the, in the third period. It felt very lopsided towards the Soo Chase Reed, I guess he's good, too.

16:20Andrew: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's good. Yeah. Another. Another C. Reed, who turns out to be quite good. Yes. He. Yeah, he had himself a night. He had. Had two assists and a goal. And it's too bad because it gets to overtime and you kind of feel like, all right, you know, anybody can. Anybody can win three on three and. And again, it just kind of. Things just kind of broke the wrong way and. And you know, you can say that there's a missed assignment or whatever. It doesn't matter if you're up three, nothing if you're up four to one. You got to put, you know, the foot on the throat and finish the job. It doesn't matter how early it is.

16:55Justin: We were talking last week about momentum shifts and like we. We there. I can't remember which game it was, but it felt like the Rangers never lost the momentum of the game, even though the game, the score got closer. This was one where when they got that second goal, it was like they came out in the third and it was like, oh, the Rangers have to hold on to win. Like this is. Yeah, like the. Soo is going to give her. Because they have all the momentum right now.

17:19Andrew: Yeah.

17:19Clip: Yeah. This was.

17:21Andrew: I was. I wasn't happy with the point, but the way that everything kind of imploded. I'll take the point, I guess, you know.

17:29Justin: Yeah, a point is a point. A point is a point. Still work?

17:34Andrew: Yeah. Yeah.

17:35Justin: So, yeah, we. We lost it in, in the. In the overtime period, which at least we didn't have to go to a shootout, which I don't like.

17:44Andrew: No. And you know what? This has just been bad vibes, these two games. So you know what? Let's switch up the vibes. Let's talk about the Saginaw game.

17:52Justin: Let's.

17:52Andrew: Yeah, let's move on.

17:54Justin: This was a game out. A game where they came out immediately and again, it felt like they took control, but the Aud felt like they kept control.

18:02Andrew: Certainly did. I mean, they did get out shot in the third period. But did you feel like it was a lot of third period?

18:10Justin: No, this was like the, you know. Yeah, they got. They did get a goal and it was 2 to 1. But I never really had any concerns about it. Like the way that the Rangers were playing, it was so steady that there was no. I. There was no concern.

18:21Andrew: I actually have beef with that goal. I have beef with the third period officiating because I don't understand how the officiating through the first two periods was so lenient. And then in the third period, that's when you're like in a two nothing game. So it's still close. You're just going to like call kind of a ticky tack contact in the corner. Like it wasn't. It wasn't as egregious as two plays. That Saginaw should have been called for penalties, you know, earlier in the game. In the second period, early on, Tanner Lam in the second period, Tanner Lam was pulled down shortly before the Bileci goal. Like, shortly before the Balecki goal, Tanner Lam had an opportunity. And when Tanner Lam gets an opportunity in close and on the rush like that, you know what can happen because it was happening in this game. But he gets. He gets pulled down and I'm like, how is there no call? And the Aud then literally like not too long later, Evan Headrick gets pulled down on what is almost a breakaway. He gets tripped up. Yeah, there was no puck. There was no puck that was hit by the defender. The puck did not. Hedrick still got the shot off. That's how I know that the puck the didn't get hit by the defender because Hedrick still had his chance. But you gotta call that like you. I don't care. It's not a runaway. What are you not seeing there? That drove me nuts. So I just want to get those bad vibes out of the way because the rest of this game.

19:57Justin: We're done with Brad Vibes now.

19:59Andrew: We're done with Brad.

20:01Justin: Brad.

20:01Andrew: Boy. Brad Vibes.

20:04Justin: Brad vibes, because I bet Brad had some vibes. I've been Brad Flynn. Those were some Brad boy for life moments that I bet he was unhappy about.

20:12Andrew: So the good things about this game was like you said, the start. Tanner Lam has Tanner Lam once again. Once again one of the goals of the year because it wasn't even his goal. But it doesn't matter because he walks three guys on. On Saginaw, including this like crazy underneath this, like underneath the stick as the defenseman's going down to like put his stick on the ice to like block the pass. It was, it was absurd. It's. It's one of those things that not everyone. There's very few players that can do this. And Tanner Lam once again, revenge tour. He did not get drafted. Can you believe it?

20:53Justin: And he threw a great shot towards the net and it was just about to go wide. And then Jack Pridham, because there were three guys on Tanner Lam Jack Riddham was just standing there by himself being like, okay, I can.

21:06Andrew: There was a guy on. On Jack, but Jack is not going to miss that close, right? Like, Jack, Jack. Yeah, it's the, like he's so much more than a bumper, right? Like he's. He's going to put that puck in. It was great.

21:19Justin: It was great.

21:20Andrew: Those two have a lot of chemistry. I'm excited as I know the lineup's going to change as, as. As guys come back, but yeah, it's really nice to see two really highly skilled forwards playing hockey together.

21:34Justin: The next. The next goal in the second period was. It was like. It was like almost copy paste, but they took a couple of the layers of the defenseman covering Lamb, but it was still like Lamb driving the zone. I know. And getting back to Bilecki.

21:48Andrew: And Pridham actually touched the puck before he passed to Luca Romano. He made a really great play along the boards. He's not going to get an assist because he actually. He actually makes this great play along the boards to get the puck to Luca Romano who gets it to Tanner Lam who gets it to Alexander Bilecki And it's. It's literally like. It's like one touch passes. It's like pass, pass, pass after Pridham makes that. That play along the boards. So once again, that line is just doing everything it has to do. And, and it was really nice to see Alexander Bilecki make that play to get down deep knowing that Pridham was high at the blue line and that he could kind of pinch in there. So it was. It was a great read. Balecki like, like we said on the hot pot, we said that he had three goals last year, but he looked like he could score a lot more than three goals. So it was nice to see him getting involved early in the season.

22:41Justin: Yeah, for sure. Yeah, it was. It was great. It was nice. It was just. He was aware of what was going on and that that's what led to this goal. Like, he was absolutely. He was fully with the play. It was great. Yeah. And then also, like, the power play looked better in this game. The special teams looking at it, at the three games that we just talked about, like, the power play finally started to look like it was clicking, like they were getting lots of good offensive zone time, which then led to the third goal of the game where they did get a power play goal by Haeden Ellis.

23:10Andrew: Yeah. Assisted by Blecky, another guy who's just, you know, playing way, way better than last year. Not that he didn't play well last year. He just didn't have as much of an opportunity. Haeden Ellis already has four goals this year. I mean, these guys, like I said, these guys are going to lose a little bit of playing time when some of these big dogs come back in there, but they have made the most of it. And I'm excited that these guys who, you know, there's going to be a little bit more room next year after these overagers age out. We're in good hands even next year. There's no reason to be concerned. Chromiak is playing really well on the power play. He doesn't get a ton of power play time, as it were. I mean, Cameron Reid played really well in this game. He had five shots. It's going to come for Cameron Reid but Cameron Reid I think he's. That he's wired to win. Right. He's not. He's not worried about filling the stat sheet. Right. He's already been drafted first round. He's the captain. He knows that. You know, a captain of the, of the Kitchener Rangers is going to be measured by how successful the team is. It's not going to be, how many did you pot? How much? You know, what did you do individually? It's going to be like, what, how did you lead this team? And I got to say that this was a bit of a statement game. This was a bit of a statement game after those two tough losses on this road trip.

24:36Justin: Yeah, it was a. It was a good comeback game. It was a good, feel good game. It was a good game before. They had like a little bit of a break here over the Thanksgiving weekend. So, yeah, I'm. I'm happy that this is the one that they put in the books to sort of cap off this. Whatever. This was weird.

24:55Andrew: You know what?

24:55Justin: The weird schedule, man. Yeah, that. That doesn't help either.

24:59Andrew: 3. I'll take three points in. In three weird road games early in the season. It's.

25:04Justin: Yeah, we'll.

25:05Andrew: We'll do that because we're back at the Aud You know, they've already got a win under their belt. They're coming in with a little bit of more momentum than if they had, you know, if it was the other way where they dropped two after they won one. So they've got Guelph. They can't take Guelph. You know, they can't. They can't sleep on Guelph. That's.

25:22Justin: So Guelph is. Guelph has shown up this year. So we. Yeah, we got to be prepared for. For Guelph. Got to be prepared. We got to be prepared for everybody because right now that it is early in the season, like, we can all have these preconceived notions about every single Tommy Kut you know, those, those things are meant to be broken. Like the Rangers last year were not deemed to be a very good team and then they. They showed up. So we don't want to sleep on anybody. We want to measure everyone up and, and make sure that we're. We're winning these games.

25:50Andrew: Yeah. And I guess we're going to watch the Guelph game right here.

25:54Justin: I'm going to throw it to. I'm going to throw it to Justin and Andrew of the future.

25:58Andrew: All right, it's Andrew from the AudPod here with Weston Cameron of the Kitchener Rangers after a 6 to 1 victory over the Guelph Storm in what was a battle of Highway 7, but also the battle of potential Memorial Cup hosts. Does that ever come into your mind when you're playing in a game like this?

26:17Clip: Yeah, definitely. Before the game it was in all of our heads. So just a little extra motivation to. At the win.

26:22Andrew: Well, I think that you put them in their place tonight as far as you guys are in a good spot to be hosts next year. We're going to do a little recap here. You are the first official co host of the Aud pot here. That is not Justin. So how does that feel?

26:36Clip: Honored. It's an honor.

26:38Justin: Awesome.

26:39Andrew: So first period, let's get the bad

26:41Justin: stuff out of the way. Okay.

26:42Andrew: We don't usually ever talk about bad stuff about the Kitchener Rangers And you guys, we want to just be a source of positivity for you guys. But that first period, what was the vibe in the. In the locker room after that first period?

26:53Clip: Definitely wasn't good. Just our whole first period wasn't good. We weren't winning our battles one on one battles. We weren't competing as a team and just wasn't good. But definitely the intermission was. Was a tough intermission, but we fought through and had a good second and third.

27:10Andrew: Well, it definitely worked, whatever was said in that intermission, because, I mean, the shots were five to three in the first period. It wasn't. It wasn't an exciting period by any means, but the second, the absolute best period, I think I've seen you guys play in the past two years, to be honest. It was incredible. Let's take it through. So Jack Pridham gets the scoring going with a shorthanded breakaway in the second period. How did that feel to see that?

27:36Clip: Honestly, it felt good. I was the one that put the

27:38Andrew: penalty too, so I wasn't going to mention that.

27:41Clip: It was. I appreciate him scoring. And, yeah, it kind of got us back on our feet. Pretty sure.

27:46Andrew: Yeah, it makes you feel pretty good. You know, you're in the box, you're like, all right.

27:48Clip: Okay. All right.

27:50Andrew: And then Avery Anus actually gets the eventual game winner. His first. His first goal ever in the OHL regular season. Goal. He followed that puck. He. Well, he brought the puck in, but then he actually was going around behind the net and he came back out and. And deposited his own rebound. So you see an effort like that, and what does that mean to a guy like Avery?

28:09Clip: Yeah, I mean, it's great to see him get his first goal. He's been, you know, battling, which has been awesome. And, yeah, I'm just happy to see him did his first goal.

28:16Andrew: Absolutely. So that period was just like basically an avalanche. And during this period, I mean, Christian Humphreys gets an insurance goal. After that, Luca Romano scores 1. Jack Pridham gets another one. He.

28:28Justin: He could have had five tonight, honestly.

28:30Andrew: Well, we got to talk about what you did in that second period. You had a scrap, got the crowd going.

28:35Justin: You were. You were.

28:36Andrew: You were fired up. Tell me about. Tell me how the lead up. Lead up that. That fight in that shift, we were

28:42Clip: kind of just lined up on the face off and mutual agreement to fight. So, yeah, it was respect to him for fighting. And, yeah, I think it definitely sparked the boys, which was nice.

28:53Andrew: Yeah, you were pretty fired up. You kind of gave me a little bit of A WWE vibe there after that, that felt pretty good. You were pretty, pretty stoked. So let me ask you if you were a prize fighter or a WWE wrestler. You pick your poison. What? It was country night here tonight, right? Lots of country music. What would be your walkout song?

29:15Clip: Dancers Paradise.

29:16Andrew: Oh, okay. I love it.

29:17Clip: All right.

29:18Andrew: I love it.

29:19Justin: Yep.

29:19Andrew: That'd be great.

29:20Justin: That's.

29:20Andrew: That's an all time classic. I. You know what? I don't feel so old now talking to you that you've. You've referenced that one. So the third period, you guys were kind of in shutdown mode. Uh, you did have most of the pressure. Was there, was there any directive in between periods where it was like, you know, don't let this go off the rails, because in a game like this, you know, tempers can flare.

29:44Clip: Definitely in going into the third period, our leaders like Cam Reed, Jakub Chromiak you know, we were a little happy, but, you know, they kind of settled the room and told us like, you know, we still got another period to go and we got to keep. We got to keep going for the win.

29:59Andrew: Absolutely. All right, well, Wes and Cameron, the official first co host on the AudPod. Thank you so much for your time, brother. And go Rangers.

30:08Clip: Yeah. Thank you, Jess.

30:09Justin: Hey, welcome back to the past.

30:12Andrew: Welcome back to Monday night.

30:15Justin: We're back at Monday night. Wow. That game tomorrow night, that was quite

30:19Andrew: the thing that went. Insert reaction here.

30:24Justin: Yeah. Thank goodness that this player and this player showed up. Okay, great. Okay, well, we did that.

30:33Andrew: Well, we did that. That was a bit.

30:34Clip: We did.

30:37Justin: Andrew. Previews of the next upcoming games. This is a weird one because it's a home and home Friday night at home at the Aud against

30:49Clip: London.

30:50Justin: Hello, gossiper.

30:55Andrew: Cheerio.

30:57Justin: Cheerio. And the Aud then we. We head across the. The scummy pond to.

31:04Andrew: To visit their scummy pond.

31:06Justin: To visit their scummy pond. It's a lot of pond hopping and scum going to London on Sunday to be there and play a game we get. I guess that means unless we go to the game, I guess that means we have to watch Mohawk construction classes for the first time this season.

31:28Andrew: The best part, though, is you can mute it and pause it and then turn on Mike Farwell on 570 News Radio and you can sync it up pretty, pretty easily, which I implore everyone to. In.

31:41Justin: In the.

31:43Andrew: To do that. It's. It's a much better time. So looking at London right now, they have their four, two and two as of recording. So they sit basically like Ninth overall, one point behind Kitchener.

31:59Justin: Are they on a four game win streak? Because didn't they lose their first few games? Yeah, they're, they're on a four. Four zero and one.

32:07Andrew: Okay.

32:08Justin: Yeah. So they're picking it up.

32:09Andrew: Yeah, they got some, they got some important players back. Early in the season they didn't have some important players. So obviously they've, they've got those guys back. Obviously. Everybody kind of earmarked Sam O'Reilly to take a big step because he's going to have more ice time and he seems to be doing just that. It'll be interesting because they don't have Justin Elliott this year. See what their goaltending situation is like. We know Medvedev is a good goalie, but, you know, I, I, I enjoy

32:37Justin: to play all the games.

32:38Andrew: I, yeah, how exactly? I enjoy, you know, trying to be unbiased when we're talking about London Knights However, I enjoy more just saying that I hate them. I hate this team. I hate this hockey market. I despise them. I don't want them to win. I don't want them to have fun out there. I don't want anything to go well for this organization. And I think that got ingrained deeply into me after one year of following the Kitchener Rangers. So talk to me in 20 years. Yeah, I don't know. It's just, it just, they just, they just rubbed me the wrong way. And it's, you know what, there's teams that win and then there's teams that win and tick you right off. And that's the London Knights. Yep.

33:21Justin: Yep. I have nothing else to add. Anything else you want to talk about, Andrew? About the ohl, the NHL for this week?

33:28Andrew: I just, I just, I just think it's funny that you're not mentioning that the Calgary Flames came back to defeat the Oilers 4 to 3 after being down 3 nothing. I thought that that's how we were going to open this pod. I thought that honestly we were going to be doing victory laps.

33:44Justin: I thought we did that last week.

33:47Andrew: No, that was just, it was just a preview.

33:50Justin: I forgot.

33:51Andrew: This guy doesn't even take his, his, his victory laps. He might never get another victory lap this season.

33:58Justin: Probably won't. Not based on how the Flames are looking right now. Holy cow.

34:02Andrew: I could not believe, I mean, I could exactly believe what happened in that game. So I, I'll give you your flowers. The Flames did not give up. The Oilers still have goaltending issues.

34:16Justin: They still have Stuart Skinner as a cult.

34:18Andrew: Completely outplayed the Flames. All game and lost the game. So yeah, I will say that shootout. And I'm sorry if we're losing some of the AudPodience here, but the shootout between the Oilers and the Flames made me want to never see a shootout ever again.

34:35Justin: Yeah. Well, this is what I meant. Like, even I was happy that that sue game, it was over in the overtime period because I just don't ever want to watch a shootout again. Like, I am so done with the

34:45Andrew: shootout as a, it's so terrible. Can we please not.

34:49Justin: It's not a good way to determine a whole point. And points are so valuable in both of these leagues.

34:57Andrew: Well, unless there's going to be some sort of transition to a three point regulation win. I don't understand a shootout win getting the same amount as like a regulation win.

35:09Clip: Yeah.

35:09Andrew: Is, is there a way that we could campaign for like the OHL to move to like a 10 minute three on three? There's absolutely no way. These boys, junior level, you know how it, it's a, it, it's a, it's a bit running around sometimes, you know, like, it just is.

35:25Justin: Yeah.

35:26Andrew: It, there's no way, there's no way that 10 minutes of three on three is not going to settle it.

35:31Justin: I, I 100% agree. I, I think that there, there is data to back up that claim. Like, I've, I, I off the cuff, I cannot quote that data, but I have heard that it's like if you, there's like almost the probability of it going past like seven and a half minutes or something is like astronomically high. That's basically what.

35:52Andrew: Right.

35:52Justin: What it comes down to is.

35:53Andrew: And then can we just admit that like a tie is okay? You know, like if you play 7010 hockey and.

36:00Justin: Yeah. And it's deadlocked. Yeah.

36:03Andrew: That's just, let's just say it's a tie. I know nobody likes ties, but you know what? I dislike shootouts more than ties at this stage.

36:10Justin: Yes. Yeah. Yes.

36:11Andrew: Yeah.

36:12Justin: Yeah. You know what? If the Rocket Richard winner ties, they, they give out two trophies. Like.

36:18Andrew: Yeah, right.

36:18Justin: We, we've, we accept this one year.

36:21Andrew: They gave out three.

36:22Justin: Yes, exactly. So who cares? Like just stop putting us through these stupid shootouts that mean nothing and then determine basically the playoffs.

36:31Andrew: They don't even count the goals. They don't even count the goals. They'll tell you how meaningless it is.

36:37Justin: Or the saves.

36:38Andrew: Or the saves. Yeah, yeah, exactly. None of the statistics count.

36:42Justin: I see, I see Shootout in fantasy hockey. I'm like, just kill me now. Yeah. All right. Cool. On that note, it also hasn't gone that well for the Flame since, like. So it's kind of been like. It's like, yeah, that was. That was a good highlight, but that was so long ago.

37:04Andrew: So long ago.

37:05Justin: Thank yous. Thank you, of course, to Ken Born our director of branding and marketing aboard. Thank you to the prodigal producer, Liam, the phenom. Thank you, of course, to Tim. Tim, we might need help on this one because we have had Internet problems.

37:26Andrew: So please help us, Tim. Help us. Please help.

37:31Justin: Andrew, how do you find us on the social medias?

37:33Andrew: At the AudPod, on TikTok and Instagram. Duh. And on YouTube. Just search the AudPod or Kitchener Rangers. We come up, you'll find us. In fact, you can just Google us and we pop up as if we're some sort of authority on some of these players.

37:51Justin: Yeah, yeah.

37:52Clip: Yep.

37:53Justin: And you know, if you were inspired last week from our ODD history, our first ever ODD History segment, and you wanted to reach out to us about some odd history of your own, how would you do that?

38:05Andrew: You could email us@theaudpodcastmail.com we'd love to hear your odd history

38:23Andrew: You can find us at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. See you at the Aud
