0:31Justin: We talked about the Rangers being cardiac this year. These Blue Jays are the cardiac kids right now.

0:36Andrew: Cardiac kids on steroids. It's actually. I don't even know how to explain it. That was the craziest baseball game. I think you know, that. That series. But we talked about this before we hit record. We never really lost faith.

0:52Andrew: It gave me a bit of the Windsor reverse sweep vibe because it was kind of like. It was kind of like, oh, this is going to be really hard now. Down to nothing, going to Seattle for three. And yet when we were coming back down three games or two, I was like, no, I think they're going to win it.

1:07Justin: Yeah. I had no. I never even thought about game three, that they were going to lose game three.

1:12Andrew: Right.

1:12Justin: I was like, they'll tie up the series. And they did. And then they did go down again. But it was like, even game six, I was like, I knew they were going to win game six. I wasn't really worried about that. The only game I was like. I was like, game seven. Game, game. Sevens are game.

1:25Justin: Yeah. But extra pressure.

1:27Andrew: And I never really started to think like, oh, they're running out of time until the seventh inning, which is when George Springer hit the home run shot. Around the world. Yeah. Around the world. Oh, man.

1:38Andrew: That was a beautiful, unbelievable. The second biggest home run in Jay's history, eclipsing the Joey Batts home run. But still short of touch Mall Joe. But maybe, maybe there's still time because they got to beat the final boss now.

2:52Andrew: Meaning first or second round. This is a game changing player coming out of Finland. He doesn't stop being Finnish. Now, if you're not sure what we're talking about. Kiekko-Espoo, which is a bit of a factory for junior players in Finland.

3:14Andrew: stomping their feet, putting their feet down. That they're not going to let him out of his commitment. Which means the double ihf, I think is what it is that controls the transfer rules between the two leagues.

3:25Justin: Will not allow him to play.

3:26Andrew: Will not allow him to play for Kitchener. And his parents have already torn up the contract.

3:32Tim: Yep.

3:33Andrew: They've totally said he's never playing for

3:35Justin: Kiekko-Espoo because he's a minor and his parents can control that.

3:39Andrew: Exactly. And yet they still won't sign off on it. That he can play for Kitchener now.

3:45Justin: Which they have already done for his brother Emil.

3:48Andrew: Yeah.

3:49Justin: They let go. No problems. He played in the. The ohl.

3:53Andrew: Now I was. I went down like a bit of a Reddit rabbit hole.

3:56Andrew: Where there was Finnish fans and people who maybe don't follow Junior all that much, but the Finnish fans especially, they seem to be divided.

4:07Andrew: There seemed to be division Amongst the Finns. 1. A lot of the Finns didn't like that they were being grouped into it as. It's like a Finnish thing. And they were. It's. No, it's a Kiekko-Espoo thing. That not all Finns would do this. Not all, of course. Right. But not all fans of the Finnish club agree with what they're doing. And then there. There seemed to be like die hards who were like, no, he signed the contract. He should play. The issue I have with that is you said this to me, actually Justin was. He aged out. He's too good for that league. It's not going to help his development at this point.

4:44Justin: He's. He was in that league. He was scoring two points per game and he was like the top player. Like at some point you. It's. Yeah. If you get to the NHL and you're playing scoring two points a game and that's awesome. But when you're in a. When you're in a development league.

4:58Tim: Yeah.

4:58Justin: And you've overdeveloped that league. Like you want to go to the next most challenging level, which is the chl. Like the chl, and specifically the OHL is way more like he's going to face guys that are way more his skill level.

5:13Andrew: Exactly.

5:14Justin: And so he will have to work to become a better player.

5:17Andrew: And realistically, he's his only options now is, like we said, like an outlaw league, like the BCHL now. Like where Jack Pridham came. Because Pridham was going to play ncaa. He had a commitment. Funnily enough, he comes to Kitchener, falls in love with the team and the organization, and he wants to stay. So all that time, he probably could

5:36Justin: have been playing here. Yeah.

5:38Andrew: But that's okay because that's how it works out sometimes.

5:40Justin: Yeah.

5:41Andrew: Same thing with Oscar Hemming. Like, you gotta let this kid play.

5:44Andrew: That's where I'm at with it, is you put the egos aside. They didn't do this to you on purpose. If this is. Which. What I suspect is some sort of political thing with uc. A hocus. Yeah. A Finnish coach who does not coach over there.

6:03Justin: And maybe like another guy that kind of aged out or is a little bit better than maybe that league.

13:43Andrew: He was playing forward. He's a defenseman. He has something unbelievable. He has 21 points in nine games.

13:51Andrew: Yeah. It might even be crazier than that. But 21 points in the 12 games are. It's like basically two points a game.

13:57Justin: Yeah.

13:57Andrew: He's got nine goals.

13:59Justin: Speaking of a guy who's too good for a league.

14:00Andrew: Yeah. Unbelievable. I know the Rangers want to get him in the lineup because they're putting him out of position.

14:06Andrew: Because he's such a good skater. He was key on this. On this goal. He played a great game. They're up one nothing. That's the only scoring in the first period.

14:15Andrew: It wasn't super high event hockey.

14:17Justin: There was Sam O'Reilly felt like Pridham had a good chance in the first.

14:20Andrew: Exactly. I was going to say. But there were some chances and I felt good about the Rangers effort in that first period. The outshot them 10 to 6. And going into the second I was like, okay, this is a completely different game.

14:34Andrew: Unfortunately, London ties it up. Yep. Henry Brzustewicz gets on there. He's all over the game sheet.

14:42Andrew: With fights and penalties. And you.

14:59Justin: Those guys. Those guys, they'll never listen to this. So that's fine. At one point in the second Period. Romano had almost a clear shot to the net. And Brzustewicz, he hooked. Romano got a penalty. Yes. And the commentators said, well, you know, in that opportunity, you know, there's no other option but to hook him. And I'm like, there is an option. It's not to hook.

15:25Andrew: There was an option. It was don't get out of position where you gotta hook. I think that was probably the option.

15:31Justin: Hooking is an infraction in this game, so that's not usually an option.

15:37Andrew: They just won't give props to the Rangers player. No, never. the Soo that still the best play. It's not. Romano is playing so well and he put himself in a position where Bruce David had to take a penalty. No, it was just like, that's the smart thing to do there.

15:50Justin: They also spent most of the second period explaining how London could pass the Rangers in the standings based on the score today. And I was like, this is. We're at game 10 of the season.

16:05Andrew: Holy golly.

16:06Justin: Holy golly.

16:08Andrew: All right, so then that was the second period. It wasn't great for the Rangers. The shots were 9 to 5. But again, going into the third, 1 1. Not the worst situation after that last game. Especially then in the third period. Six minutes in, Kaden Hawkins for the London Knights gets on the score sheet. And I'm like, oh, no, they can't drop two to London in rivalry week. The first ever rivalry. Yes, Rivalry week, by the way.

16:37Tim: Yeah.

16:37Andrew: But our dear friend of the pod, like we said, gets his first career goal on a nifty little shot. Weston Cameron, those fists, those hands are not just for fighting, but Weston Cameron tucks one home. Tanner Lam of course, sets him up. And Alexander Bilecki who we'll talk about in a second with the Central scouting. That was such a bounce back goal, like literally 59 seconds later.

17:03Justin: Yeah.

17:04Andrew: And I felt like, okay, this is, this is a game. I think that. I think they can win this.

17:08Justin: Like, you can feel it in the air.

17:11Andrew: You could feel it, right? Like, it's like those. We talked about those, that momentum shift. It just felt like a game where you're like, no, I think they're going to keep driving this one and they're going to win this one. It wasn't like those games where you battle back or you the Aud up and then you're holding on for dear life.

17:24Justin: Yeah, it. It felt. Not that we're talking about it, but in the, in that first game against London, there was a little bit of that. It just didn't feel like, they could get anything by London and we never. I never really felt like that in this game. Like, in this game, it was like, yeah, London had their chances, obviously, as they always do, but Kitchener was always able to create something as well. Like, it was never that lopsided back and forth.

17:45Andrew: Yeah. So overtime, they win the face off. I think they have a nice chance early on. And then London comes back the other way and there's a severe gluteus maximus clenching moment where I was like, oh, no. And I feel like last year all of those went in for London.

18:03Justin: Yeah, yeah. And so they're the luckiest team in the world.

18:07Andrew: For Christian Kirsch to stop that one, it was. Oh, it just.

18:12Justin: Yeah, it was a beautiful save. It was. It was like, whoa. And then the Rangers immediately got the puck and went down and scored.

18:19Andrew: And you know what? That three on three is such madness. That's usually the way it goes.

18:23Justin: Yeah. Yeah.

18:23Andrew: If you can get the turnover on some sort of, like, game saving save, then you're probably going to score right away. It's like this weird momentum shift. And again, our guy who we were gassing up in an earlier episode, Jakub Chromiak.

18:36Justin: Yeah. Great goal.

18:37Andrew: Absolutely wires it from the Petizian spot. Jack Pridham and Luca Romano just.

18:44Justin: Yeah. Do we hear it? Is it. Do we hear it?

18:46Andrew: Is it coming? Maybe in the background with some reboot. Jack Riddham and Luca Romano. I love that combination. And over time.

18:54Andrew: What more can you say? There's so much skill there.

18:56Justin: As soon as I saw it, I was like, we're good. Yeah, we're good. Yeah.

19:00Justin: It was interesting because Reed swapped out really fast in that. In that overtime. Because Reed started and that opportunity went the other way. Reed and Chromiak swapped.

19:10Justin: And Chromiak came out and scored that goal. Like, he must have only been on the ice for two seconds before he scored the goal. Like, it was the swap. I didn't even see it happen. It was so fast.

19:20Andrew: It was so smooth. Yeah.

19:22Justin: These guys.

19:23Andrew: Yeah.

19:23Justin: So that was a great game. It was a nice comeback game. We should do the three stars of the weekend. Andrew, we forgot to do these last week. So we did.

19:31Andrew: But that was because we were excited and we were recording in the Aud Yeah. So give us a break on that one.

19:40Justin: Yeah, now they'll be like, you didn't do it. And we'll be Like. Yeah, we acknowledge that. Thank you. Andrew, who's your third star of the weekend?

19:47Andrew: My third star of the weekend is the captain, Cameron Reid Ah, yeah. So he had. It wasn't an all time classic scrap, but it was a scrap that had to happen.

19:57Justin: Yep.

19:57Andrew: He had an assist and he just played really well in. In rivalry week. And I think he had to do things we didn't see after a 6 to 1 win or 6 to 1 win. A 6 to 1 loss in the first game. He had to do things in that dressing room. He had to get the boys ready for Sunday.

20:19Justin: Yeah.

20:20Andrew: That previously would have been the Overagers and Ando.

20:24Justin: Yeah.

20:24Andrew: And that's what makes a captain.

20:28Justin: Yeah.

20:28Andrew: Is that these boys came out with zero memory of what happened on Friday and won a game in London.

20:35Tim: Yeah.

20:35Andrew: So I got to give it to

20:36Justin: Cameron for almost the exact same reasons. My third star is going to Christian Kirsch.

20:42Andrew: Nice.

20:42Justin: Because obviously Friday night was not a great game, but he started again on Sunday and he came out with some big saves right away. Again, that memory has got to be short and you got to be ready to go. And like we talked about, he had a very timely save in overtime that led to the winner. So without Kirsch, we might not have won that, that second London game.

21:04Andrew: Absolutely.

21:05Justin: Who's your second star?

21:06Andrew: My second star is Kaden Schneider, who got his first goal.

21:12Justin: Yep.

21:12Andrew: It was an important goal. It's one of those that I find sometimes when they're playing London, they don't throw the puck at the net. Yeah, they're trying to get that. It's almost. London's a good team. So we gotta really get the perfect chance to score. We gotta get that high percentage chance. No. So sometimes you just gotta take a nice little shot from the point. And it was a nice little shot. It wasn't like some sort of. He just threw it. He intended to score.

21:33Justin: Yeah. Yeah.

21:34Andrew: And so I have to give it to Kaden Schneider.

21:37Justin: Yeah. I'm only adding to your second star in saying. My second star was Kaden Schneider and Weston Cameron for scoring their first OHL career goals.

21:45Andrew: There you go.

21:46Justin: That was for all those reasons. And Weston Cameron, because even though he tossed off those gloves in that first London game, they didn't give him the fight. So he wasn't suspended and he was there to score his first goal. I was like, you threw his gloves down. And I was like, no, no, we need you. We want you. And they didn't give it to him. So I'm like, awesome.

22:05Andrew: That's funny. That he's. You're. He's sharing the second star. Because he's my first star.

22:09Andrew: Weston Cameron. The kid just has the Rangers vibe. I'm not surprised that they highlighted him in the preseason and he made the team and that was a big deal that he was like a role player. He played, of course, for Cambridge Redhawks last year. Just excited for the kid because he just seems like a nice kid and he plays the game like the Ranger way.

22:29Justin: Yeah.

22:29Andrew: And it was a huge goal. It was one of those things that, like, if they didn't answer back that quick, I don't know if they would have won that game.

22:36Tim: Yeah.

22:36Justin: A little bit of clutch in those fists. Yeah. My first star is Jack Pridham. Goal and an assist. The Rangers only scored four goals this weekend. So he had two points on four goals and he just had a half dozen other chances in that first game against London, like he was just going. He was the only. Really. It felt like the only player that had some chances.

22:55Andrew: You know, it actually works against Jack because Jack is probably one of my favorite players to watch.

23:01Justin: Yeah. Play hockey. Period. Across like all the leagues.

23:05Andrew: So I. It's almost like. It's not. I'd never take Jack Pridham for granted, but I have to. I almost have to let other people get on the three stars. Yeah. Because I would just have Jack on three stars.

23:15Justin: But last season we had to stop giving Jackson Parsons the first star every week.

23:19Andrew: Exactly.

23:20Justin: It's like we almost have to like honor. It's every week the honorary first star is Jack Prado. Yeah, it's. But here's who else we're going to talk to. Yeah, exactly.

23:29Andrew: It has felt like that a little bit for me. So, yeah. I just tried to deter myself from doing that. But yes, Jack.

23:34Andrew: Unbelievable. Having the year that we all thought that he had or that he had in him. And I just.

25:53Justin: And since he's been back the team's been on a tear so.

26:25Andrew: He's just like, yeah, listen, I'm a Rangers fan, but there's certain guys that you're like, I want to see him play hockey because I'm going to be watching him play hockey at another level, at the next level.

26:35Justin: He's one of those guys that I'm like, he would fit in on the Rangers if there was a. If there was another world where he was there. It was like, he'd be great. I like him too.

26:43Andrew: Is he overager?

26:44Justin: No, no, he just got drafted this year. Yeah. Okay.

26:48Justin: What, like four picks before Camry. Yeah. So that's very excited to see them. First time we're seeing them this season. Obviously we only see them twice a year. Same with North Bay. This will be our first time and we see them twice a year. They're 6-500-which is impressive. I did not expect this out of North Bay.

27:03Andrew: Yes, they are. I've been obviously following the league and they are a surprise, but I also think that this is not going to be an easy game. No, the games that I've been like, seeing them play, the highlights. North Bay is legit.

27:17Justin: They might get. They got two rookies that are leading their team in scoring.

27:21Andrew: Yeah, it's, it's. It reminds me of Owen Sound last year.

27:25Justin: Yeah.

27:25Andrew: Where they were like that, like eighth seed. Like people wrote them off and yet they've got like this like really young group of players who are like taking offense to that.

27:35Justin: So the rookies are talking about Cam Warren and Ryder cali who have 10 points and nine points respectively. Top two players on their team. Interestingly, about North Bay, every single player on their team has a point except the two goalies.

27:48Andrew: Yeah.

27:49Justin: All their active players have points at this already, which I don't. I didn't look at every single Tommy Kut like the Rangers have four or five players without a point or. Sorry, they have two players without a point and stuff like that. So it's there. That's a rarity to have your whole team on the score sheet already.

28:05Andrew: Interesting stat too.

28:07Andrew: North Bay is.06 in the last five years against the Rangers.

So we have to introduce a new segment of the Aud pot alum. Jackson Parsons, our guy. We're talking about him. He's gone, but we're still talking about him.

29:05Justin: Are in the rafter. If you could see what I was pointing at. Yeah. Which is just the ceiling. But we know he's up there spiritually.

29:11Andrew: The number 32 is in the rafters.

29:14Andrew: He wins his first game in the echl, the East Coast Hockey League with the Allen Americans. He is actually there playing with Marco Constantini who was the Rangers goalie a few years back. They were on the same team at the same time. Parsons wasn't the full time backup then, but he did get a handful of games the year that Constantini was. Was the starter. So they're a tandem down in Allen, Texas. But Parsons stop. 33 of 35 was the third star of the game and won in the shootout. It sounds like he's picking up right where he left off.

29:45Tim: Yeah.

29:46Andrew: Not to be. I was hoping that he'd be in Belleville to start but it's very hard to get time in the crease. There's only one net and the Aud Senators have a plethora of goalies.

29:58Justin: And I blew your mind by telling you that Malcolm Subban was a Belleville.

30:03Andrew: That's what you're going to say is because I saw the two like opening night start like goalies and it was neither Parsons nor Malcolm Suban. So there's just a lot of goalies in that organization. So I was really excited for Jackson Parsons because he's playing. He started the first game of the season for the Aud And he won. Now we also have to talk about his best buddy, Trent Swick. Our guy as well.

31:23Andrew: So Trent Swick, he scored an empty netter in the very first game. And then he scored. We posted it last week. He posted it. He scored a really nice little snipe in. Yeah. In a high scoring one. He had the fifth goal. Really excited for Trent. He looks great.

31:39Andrew: He looks the part and I just love the vibe after he scored, right away he starts pointing to the teammate.

31:45Andrew: And all I could think was Jackson Parsons being like, Trent does this. Trent doesn't take enough credit for the things Trent does.

31:52Andrew: And I thought, there he is again. There he is again. He's scoring and he's pointing and. And it was great to see because you can take the Kitchener Rangers you can take Trent Swick off the Kitchener Rangers. We can't take Kitchener Rangers out of Trent Swick. So Ando, the Andalorian.

32:08Andrew: He played his first game at the AHL level with Belleville. It was exciting because he kind of had to wait five or six days. They had a couple games where he was on the outside looking in. In the press box. Which is great though because he's working things out in practice and whatever. And they have eight defensemen on that roster. It's not an everyday kind of thing. But he got in there and he looked again, looked the part, looked really comfortable. It was a low scoring game. So I'm going to credit some of that. Diando.

32:35Andrew: And we got to talk about Adrian Misaljevic, Missile. The Missile and Clarkson, which is a much smaller school relative to the behemoth Penn State, of course, of Gavin McKenna

32:52Andrew: They poached Gavin McKenna from Medicine Hat and gave him a million dollars or thereabouts. They beat Penn State.

33:01Justin: Yeah.

33:01Andrew: Adrian Misaljevic is also like scoring of his mind right now.

33:06Andrew: That's what he does. And they beat Penn State. That's like a huge upset. Love to see it for the guy. Saw pictures of him signing autographs. He's just. It's just. I'm just so happy for Adrian, mj, because the last time we saw him play hockey was him getting injured.

33:20Andrew: So for him to be back at beaten David versus Goliath type stuff. I love it.

33:27Andrew: And then we got to talk about Reed Vallej. He scored three. Three goals and two assists in two games for St. Mary's U Sports. And Tristan Malbouf, a.925 save percentage in two wins for Laurier. So a couple of Canadian colleges, Canadian universities, U Sports, gotta love it, gotta support it. Reed Valade and Tristan Malbouf getting their education and doing it in Canada and still playing hockey. That's the dream, right?
