Episode 3: Pre-season Ponderings & Season Predictions

I keep saying, once we have someone in this fan base who hates hates our guts, that's when we know we're a legitimate thing, a legitimate sports journalism podcast.

1:06Andrew: I couldn't agree more. Getting hate is what we've always wanted.

1:09Justin: It's true. Well, I mean, attention, att. We're only children, both of us.

1:13Andrew: Yeah. So engagement is what the socials call it, is what they call it. It's what we create. Yeah. Just want to say, please keep telling us when we're wrong, because we're happy to hear it. We are new.

1:24Justin: We're new. In fact, the only times that we've legitimately watched the Rangers are person. So that makes us fake fans, then. We're fake fans, I guess. But we're paying money, and we love the Aud and we want to be there this year. We've already paid for the subscription, so we will be watching. We will be learning pronunciations of names. Missile, jic, Mislevic. That's pretty cool. That's a cool pronunciation.

3:06Justin: So if they're phenomenal, if they're able to pass like that and they know where they are on. On. On the ice, then hopefully that's a connection that gets you some. Some wins.

3:14Andrew: I mean, they also. They also scored one of those, like, tic tac toe passes, so it was, you know, it was fun.

3:36Andrew: We also. We also saw some good transition play from Cameron Reid That. That was nice. He. He seems to be able to create some neutral zone chances out of nothing. Yeah, like, he's able to just transition the puck quickly and that's what you

3:49Justin: need in the O. Because last year, they're a rush team. They were scoring off the rush all the time. They were getting trapped and hemmed in their own end, and they'd. Jackson Parsons would bail the Aud and then they would go up the ice and score on the rush. That was the whole thing. They were going on. And I assume that the big juice is going to try and get them to be more calculated this year, because I don't think. I don't think you can. You can. You can. Well, you don't have. You don't have Carson Rakoff, so you can't.

4:15Andrew: You.

4:16Justin: You've literally lost 50 goals.

4:18Andrew: They can make up with some of

4:19Justin: those while he's back.

4:21Andrew: He is back.

6:12Andrew: We're okay because Romano, Swick, I'm imagining, are our first line.

6:14Justin: I'm assuming because Swick played so much first line last year, but it's. It's. It's probably a 1A, 1B, 2A 2B kind of year.

6:23Andrew: I would agree.

6:24Justin: Because, like, as far as, like, there's no true superstar on the team. Yeah. Whereas last year there was like a bunch.

6:29Andrew: Now we've seen. Now we've seen preseason from everyone. So we got a bit of a rundown. Obviously, Kitchener is the best ever. How do you. How do you feel about. You know, I'm reading a lot of stuff online. I'm seeing, like, Oshawa coming out of the East.

6:41Justin: Okay. All right.

6:43Justin: Oshawa coming out of these. The only way I can see that's happening. Okay. Is, first of all, is the east

6:49Andrew: is obviously the weaker conference, naturally.

6:53Justin: Yeah. Just like in the NHL.

7:19Justin: We just hate London. Anyway, Kitchener Jared Woolley against London, even though they lost pretty. Was it four games? I think it was a sweep. They put up a fight. Yeah. Every game was close. Okay. Except one. It even. Even. It even was kind of misleading that. That game because it was close until a point. Oshawa just got absolutely destroyed. Oshawa, unless you're going to pull the Florida Panthers. We got spanked. We're coming back and then we're going to win. I don't. I don't trust you. I wouldn't put my money on you. And then London.

7:52Tim: Obviously you'll be good again because you

7:56Andrew: Yeah, that's pretty much what I've gathered.

8:31Andrew: Anyway, what's an over under?

8:32Justin: An over under is basically, I'm going to set a line for something and you are going to tell me over or under the total that I'm giving you. It'll make sense in context.

8:42Andrew: Great.

8:42Justin: I'm going to give you my bets as well. Okay. Oh, even though I set the lines, house always wins, baby.

8:47Andrew: Feels like cheating.

8:48Justin: Okay, it is.

8:50Andrew: That's what gambling is.

8:51Justin: When you're the house, you win.
