3:35Justin: There's only two more games. Like, the one thing that the Rangers are playing for at this point is two more points to get 100 points in the season.

3:44Justin: Yeah. It's our playoff matchup. It could go one of four ways, but it's probably Flint. They need one more point to secure the.

3:51Andrew: Aud almost definitely Flint.

3:53Justin: Yeah. There's very few scenarios where Flint doesn't get it unless they lose three in a row. Which. the Aud might be Sarnia, the Aud might be Owen. Sound.

4:02Andrew: It's pick your poison. All those teams are game.

4:04Justin: Yeah. So that's where we are. So these games. Bright spot. First game we played Friday night at the Aud North Bay. Parsons got a shout out.

4:14Andrew: Parsons got a shutout.

4:15Justin: He looked great in that game. He did.

4:16Andrew: He absolutely did. He. He didn't have to stop a lot, but sometimes that's harder, I think. So as he only had. He only faced 19 shots, but 10 of them came in the third period.

4:26Justin: Yeah.

4:26Andrew: So it was one of those things where he had barely anything to do in the first two periods.

4:32Justin: Yeah.

4:32Andrew: And I thought I had that, like, premonition that I was like, oh, they're definitely gonna get like a real lame one late. Like, it's gonna be like a deflection goal or something.

4:41Justin: What stymied one of the other shootout attempts.

4:43Andrew: Exactly. I was thinking.

4:46Justin: Yeah.

4:46Andrew: Is that it happened earlier in the season to him where it's just like almost because. And it's just some sort of lame goal that goes in.

4:54Justin: Right.

4:54Andrew: And you're like, ah. You know, I think they were. It was one of those. The game that I was really sick for Niagara, that they like, absolutely just. Just pounded.

5:06Justin: Just annihilated the Aud was like late

5:08Andrew: in that game that they scored a goal on us.

5:10Justin: Yes, that was the one. And I was.

5:12Andrew: I was already so sick.

5:13Justin: So one thing I noticed in this game was the Rangers really came out. It felt like they came out ready for a playoff game the whole weekend that every game that came out ready to play a playoff game. Like. Yeah.

5:25Andrew: I think the real struggle of this season has actually been that they've basically had third locked up for weeks now. Like three weeks.

5:33Justin: Correct.

5:34Andrew: It's been like, this is where you're going to be.

5:35Justin: Yeah.

5:36Andrew: And so I think it's really easy to just start playing lazy and just not your brand of hockey when you're playing for nothing. Realistically, you're not really playing for anything. You're just playing to keep in shape at this point. But they haven't been doing that.

5:51Justin: No.

5:52Andrew: No. Because I think the coaching staff is awesome.

5:54Justin: They've been keeping them motivated. They've been keeping them in the games, mentally. In the games, definitely. And yeah, this game they showed up. They were ready for a playoff game. The first period was very defensive right there. Nobody scored. It was a 00 game after the first period. It was even after the second period. It was only one nothing or two nothing.

6:10Andrew: It was two nothing going to the third. The explosion was in the third period.

6:13Justin: Yeah. Which is when they've been exploding for offense the whole season.

6:16Andrew: Exactly. They've been getting better as the game goes on. They wear them down. They don't take risks unnecessarily.

6:23Justin: They've been playing size them up.

6:25Andrew: Exactly. And that was the other thing, is that New Brunswick North Bay had six power plays in this game.

6:31Justin: Yeah.

6:31Andrew: And they went over six.

6:32Justin: Yep.

6:33Andrew: And that's like the Rangers strength is the penalty kill. So it's nice to see in games where you're winning six nothing or four nothing, three nothing, two nothing. Whatever it is, situationally, you're still bearing down and shutting down power play opportunities. For sure.

6:50Justin: Although six penalties. Maybe not great.

6:52Andrew: Not great. But at the same time, I remember it being a bit of a chippier game. So, like, one of those was the five minutes to Lechar. Yes. And there was a.

7:04Justin: We will not be seeing at least through the. To the start of the playoffs.

7:08Andrew: There was. Yeah, there was a double minor to Cameron Reid in this game. There was a slashing penalty to Humphreys, a hooking penalty to Romano, and a slashing penalty to Lamb. So not guys who normally take penalties. It wasn't necessarily like the usual suspects. It wasn't outside of our friend Le Charizard, who we will talk about getting the. Getting the suspension handed down, but I think that they were able to kill those penalties. Yeah. They were able to snuff out North Bay through the first two periods.

7:39Andrew: To the point that the game was pretty boring. It was pretty bad. It was a pretty bad game. Like, as far as. Until they started scoring. Until the Rangers kicked it into gear.

7:48Justin: Entertainment value, hockey. Pretty boring. Yeah, pretty bad. But good.

7:52Andrew: Like, very good. As far as if. I'm sure. If we could look at the advanced analytics.

7:58Andrew: Absolutely. And honestly, even as a fan, to be down there and then have them explode for four goals and win a game six to nothing. This is a great game to be at. But the first period and a half was like, okay, yeah, this is a hockey game. I'm watching. Yep.

8:40Andrew: Absolutely. Tanner Lam is evolving into the laminator at the best time. I will say that I think he's been very quietly putting up an incredible season. Yeah, he has. I think he has the most assists on the team. I want to say it's the most. Maybe I'm wrong. He has 40 assists.

9:00Justin: That's a lot of assists.

9:01Andrew: It may not be the most on the Tommy Kut it's really high up there. It's first or second. He has 53 points. Yeah. That's in the top five for the Ranger scoring. He's tied for third. He's. They have him listed fourth, but he's tied for third with Cameron Reid for 53 points.

9:14Justin: Yeah. The way he plays, the way he dishes everything.

9:17Andrew: Absolutely.

9:18Justin: I'm not shocked.

9:18Andrew: And it comes in bunches, right?

9:20Justin: Yeah.

9:20Andrew: Comes in bunches with him. Is. It'll be like a two assist game and the Aud like. The hat trick came out of nowhere because he's not necessarily a shooter.

9:29Andrew: But he's a great playmaker and it's awesome.

9:32Justin: He's so aware on the ice. That's really how this hat trick happened. It wasn't like he was sniping corners or anything like that. It was just like his awareness of where the puck was benefited him in this game. And that's how he got three goals. Yeah.

9:43Andrew: And he turns 18 in July. Yeah.

9:46Justin: After North Bay, we went to Owen

9:48Andrew: Sound for the Bayshore Bounce.

9:50Justin: The Bayshore Bounce. And the trademarked odd po. High contrast hockey.

9:57Justin: And boy, was that contrast high. It sure was.

10:01Andrew: Except for when they switched angles.

10:02Justin: Yeah. And I was like, wow, that looks nice. We didn't get Carter George. Despite what the announcer said. We didn't get Carter George Annette for this game, which was interesting. But Koprowski. That's how you say his name?

10:16Andrew: I think so we apologize.

10:17Justin: If it's Koprowski, I'm so sorry. But yeah, Koprowski. What is happening in Owen Sound where they are like generating these phenomenal goalies.

10:26Andrew: Good goalies.

10:26Justin: Because he played pretty lights out.

10:29Andrew: He got the second star of the game. He stopped 26, 29.

10:32Justin: Yeah, he was great.

10:33Andrew: Played really well.

10:33Justin: He stopped some breakaways. He stopped some like really good Swick Pridham Humphries opportunities. He shut those down. I was like, okay, are we getting goalied again by a different goalie? You know, it sounds like. Give me a break. We did come back and win three two, so that was good. There was a huge moment in the first period. So Misaljeva got the first goal and then Owen Sound got a breakaway very shortly after that. And Pridham did the textbook back check. No penalty.

11:04Andrew: That was unreal.

11:06Justin: Perfect stick check. Just completely neutralized. Shut down the opportunity. I was like, what Priddham?

11:13Andrew: When we acquired Jack Pridham and we were researching and I went to like elite prospects or whatever to figure out like, what is this guy bringing to the table? They said he's elite speed two way player. And we haven't seen a ton of the two way thing because he's just been so possession dominant on the ice. So we haven't really had to see.

11:34Justin: And our defense is so good.

11:36Andrew: Exactly. So we haven't really had to see. And we've been outscoring teams. We've been playing with the lead. That's just literally what the Rangers have been doing all season. So we haven't seen a ton of this, this two way ability because it just hasn't. He just hasn't had to do it. Now, you could argue that just the fact that they control possession like crazy, that is two way play. Of course it is because it's good positioning. But we haven't seen necessarily like him make a crazy defensive stop like this until now.

12:01Justin: Correct.

12:02Andrew: And it was unreal so it was crazy. He chased the guy down and just took it away and it was just like. Oh, never mind. Yeah. Snuffed right out.

12:11Justin: Completely snuffed.

12:12Andrew: Which was important.

12:12Justin: No penalty. No penalty. Which was crazy. It was. Yeah.

12:15Andrew: No penalty was crazy. Yeah.

12:18Justin: Yeah. We didn't lead this game the whole way through. We were down two to one at the end of the second period. So it was a third period comeback, which is a bit of our specialty.

12:26Andrew: Yeah.

12:26Justin: Arquette got a nice goal in the second. Matheas Stark was back and he didn't score, but he got. He looked dangerous.

12:32Andrew: No, he looks dangerous. And we got to shout him out. He's been out almost five months.

12:36Justin: Yeah.

12:37Andrew: With a head injury. So it's great to see that he has recovered and that he's able to play hockey and that he's all as well and that he's competing and that he looks healthy and he. He looks dangerous. He doesn't look timid. He just. He looks like he's ready to go

12:53Justin: out playoff hockey, which is great. I'm really happy that he took the right amount of time to get healthy. I hope he's. I don't have any insider information, but I hope he's healthy. But it feels like he's. They took the time he needed to get healthy and that's where we're at.

13:05Andrew: I think that we're lucky that he's playing for an organization that won't prioritizes players health.

13:11Justin: Yeah.

13:12Andrew: And two was just so deep and so strong all year that they didn't necessarily need to rush anybody back.

13:18Justin: Anybody back. Yep. Arquette got a nice goal and then three or four opportunities as well. Like our cat looked dangerous. Like we had a lot of depth. Danger depth.

13:27Andrew: Danger, dangerous depth. That's the Ranger story, though. We were talking about it before we turned the mics on. It's missile Jevic, I think is like 36th or 37th in league scoring and he leads the team in points. The points are coming by committee. It's whoever is out there that's the scoring line. That's whoever scores. That's the scoring line. Because all four lines have contributed equally throughout the season in relation to their playing time.

13:53Justin: Yeah. I think we have three lines of double digit goals.

13:56Andrew: Yeah.

13:57Justin: It's like everybody.

13:58Andrew: Yeah, everybody.

13:59Justin: And then third period, we did come back again this third period. I found a bit sleepy, but Elena's with the bottle pop goal to win it. That was a nice goal. And like we said before, early in

14:15Andrew: Yeah. And it's funny because it'll just be always like a highlight goal.

14:19Andrew: It's just like all of your goals are sick. I don't get it.

14:22Justin: But he's great. He's an aesthetic shooter. Yeah, exactly. And then as you already know because Andrew is British now.

14:33Justin: Tuesday night we played the London Knights and we lost 2 to 1 in such a boring game. There were only 11 shots in the first period. Yeah. It was total.

14:47Andrew: That's not. We're not saying for one team it was seven to four of the shots.

14:50Justin: Yes.

14:51Andrew: And then Kitchener turned it on and had 15 to 5 in the second period and. But they weren't dangerous chances.

14:56Justin: They weren't. London ended the game with only 16 shots. But I was looking up their dangerous shots and six of them were dangerous. That was just sort of it. They weren't shooting tons, but when they were shooting it was dangerous. The rangers also had 11 dangerous shots and we were playing the backup goalie, Elliot, who played well, but also the

15:17Andrew: backup goalie who's 31 1.

15:19Justin: Yeah. Yeah. That's because he plays for London.

15:21Andrew: The backup goalie.

15:22Justin: Yeah. The danger that the Rangers were putting on wasn't there. They weren't able to get into the slot. They weren't really able to get net front in any way. Even getting traffic in front of him seemed to be a challenge for the Rangers. We may or may not have to face London in the playoffs. If we go I think to the third round would be the first opportunity to play them. If we do end up playing them, there's going to be some video coach review and some stuff to prep for them. Because London is good. There's no doubt about that. But they are fallible. They are not a perfect team. They take weird penalties for no reason and they get very angry and hot headed and there's a way to beat the Aud we just haven't found it in season series. That's just the way it is.

16:03Andrew: Yeah. And I think part of the issue too is although the Rangers did score on one of their four power plays. They did and they did absolutely dominate the face offs in this game. 31 to 17. I think the issue is that I would say almost London is. Is their special teams. Is might be the part of this team that's fallible, put it this way, because they can't seem to score consistently on the power play versus Kitchener. I know they scored in this one, but before that it was like a weird streak of like 17 penalty kills or something like that.

16:37Justin: It was like many games without scoring power play.

16:40Andrew: So there is something to be said there. London was a good team. Was favored to win the west coming into the season. They loaded up throughout the season. That is not a pun. Loaded up. That is not a pun. We're not taking shots at drunk driving.

16:59Justin: You know who finally got some punishment last night was Cam Allen. Into the box many times.

17:04Andrew: That's true. Yeah. He spent a lot of time in the box, I guess. London fans are claiming that Ellen has said something to him, which is why he dropped the gloves and got tuned up. I don't really understand that. Apparently he's not a fighter. I'm like, no, he's just more of a driver. Okay. He's 20. So this isn't like we're making fun of a kid. Yeah, that's. There's not much to say about the London game other than you hope that it goes better. But losing the games that they lost to London and winning the games that they won. If you told me that was going to be the case at the beginning of the year when we were supposed to be a rebuilding team, that was probably going to be a bubble team, I probably would have taken it.

18:09Andrew: You will. I think that he. I think he became Leon Lamb in the three goal game because that guy in the NHL, the namesake, is scoring a lot this year.

18:21Andrew: Tanner Lam like I said, he's not even 18. He's. He's not like tiny by any means, but he's a smaller guy and he doesn't really shy away from the tough areas and he has unbelievable vision and we've been fans all year and I think he's just gotten better all year and he's going to take another huge step next year.

18:43Justin: I agree. Hockey sense. I said it earlier. His hockey sense is unreal. Yeah, it's unreal.

18:48Andrew: Absolutely.

18:48Justin: He knows Every player on the ice where they are. What's going on? He does. Who's your second star then?

18:53Andrew: My second star is the goaltending it. It's been consistent all year. They didn't. It wasn't great against London, but Parsons put up a shutout against North Bay and I thought Shovel played really well against a team that was fighting for their lives. You and sound. I just had to give it to the two goaltenders just because without them, I think this year is a totally different story.

19:22Justin: Yep. I also had the goaltenders as my second star. So the AudPod mind meld is strong tonight.

19:33Justin: Okay. My. My third. Which I wrote 3nd. So my third and third is Chromiak.

19:43Justin: Yeah. Chromiak had a very great weekend of defensive all star ness. Again, it wasn't. It didn't show up on the stat sheet, but it. Shot blocking, checking back. Checking for. Checking whatever. Whatever was needed. Chromiak was there this weekend. He was good. You could tell, like, we got Andonofsky back from whatever injury he was dealing with, but you could tell that Chromiak was. He was taking a bit more responsibility.

20:09Justin: And it looked good on him.

20:09Andrew: He is a leader on the team for sure.

20:11Justin: Yeah.

20:12Andrew: Which I think might be even harder when you're brought in kind of as like a. As a trade acquisition.

20:19Andrew: I'm third and star. I'm going with the youngster, I think, and also a defenseman who's just really impressed me throughout the year. He's done what he's had to do. I haven't noticed him make huge mistakes. And that's Alexander Bilecki.

20:34Andrew: I think he got a goal. Yeah, he had a goal and assist and another assist as well. So he had three point week and he is just really developing nicely. He's a big kid.

20:45Andrew: And I just think he's just got what it takes to be with the Rangers lifetime Ranger, so I hope so. I'm excited for that guy's development because from the beginning of the year to now, he has improved loads and he was already a decent player in the beginning. Yeah, he just was a little green. You could tell.

They got Sarnia and the Soo and I'm not really sure who's going to come out of that. I think Owen Sound has the advantage right now going into literally today recording Wednesday, so who knows? And then we play our final game of the season against Guelph, battle of Highway 7 for the eighth time, and they are eliminated from the playoffs. I don't know. We've beat them seven of seven times. They might get this one. I don't know.
