2:36Justin: Not with me having a baby. And you have quite literally your wife having a baby mid season while doing this. I thought, oh, I thought, this will be fun until we both have children.

2:53Justin: And it's great and it's happening.

2:55Andrew: Oh, let's get into some game recaps. We had three games this weekend, so the first game that we played was Friday night. Kingston front necks. We lost four to two.

3:04Justin: Yeah. And it was their 10th win in a row at home. Kind of.

3:08Andrew: Yes. Kingston and Barry, who we are facing this week.

3:12Justin: I feel good about the Berry game,

3:14Andrew: the Aud interesting because this is the West. The west had this happen in the first half of the season. And now we have Bramford, Barry and Kingston tearing up the east right now.

3:25Justin: Yeah.

3:25Andrew: And I think in the end of the season, we're probably going to have some closer point totals than we thought we were going to.

3:30Justin: Yeah. It's going to be a real interesting final stretch.

3:34Andrew: So we face the Kingston front necks, who have Nolan butter and pickles. So, like a real. They should just rename themselves as the Kingston Pastrami Sandwiches.

3:46Andrew: I don't even know what a Frontenac is. Yeah. Also talking about Kingston, these are the most biased announcers we've encountered.

3:53Justin: Truly. Which is funny because I would have definitely thought no one could one up those American guys.

4:00Andrew: I thought so, too. But the last Saginaw game we played, they were pretty good. They knew the players names, at least.

5:36Andrew: Great. It was a good start to this game. Both teams had a lot of good chances.

5:40Justin: Yes.

5:40Andrew: Mr. Butter caught Kitchener puck watching and scored the first goal. Then the next shift, I was going

5:47Justin: to say it was quite literally 47 seconds.

5:50Andrew: The. The. The players did not change after the face off after the. The goal. And Pridham, Humphries, Reed, Chromiak and Swick were out on the next shift and they made Kingston look like a U14 team.

6:02Justin: Wow. That's true though. They really did. I thought when they clapped back like that immediately, oh, okay. Like, yeah, sometimes you get scored on, but that's about as good of a response as you could possibly imagine.

6:14Andrew: Yeah. When you see that line, those five players play that dominantly and then when those same five players are out on a power play and can't keep the puck in the zone, I'm like, oh yeah, what is it a head game now with the power play?

6:28Justin: Yes. I would agree with that. I think we have established that the power play has a mind of its own.

6:34Andrew: Yeah. It's almost those exact same players who can totally and utterly dominate another very good team.

6:41Justin: Do you think that perhaps it's. That line is almost better when they're playing in transition?

6:47Andrew: Yeah.

6:48Justin: Maybe. I don't mean, oh, they're a rush line. They can only score off the rush. Because that's not true either.

6:52Andrew: Even this goal wasn't that. Yeah. So.

6:55Justin: But it's almost like they, they succeed when they're. When they have their zone entry, when they have a chance to set up. It almost feels like things start get. They start getting in their own way on the power play.

7:09Andrew: Yes.

7:09Justin: Was a theme throughout all of the games.

7:11Andrew: Yes. And specifically this game. This game.

7:13Justin: Yes. They were over 4 on the power play. Honestly.

7:16Andrew: Let's be like even one of those would have made this game completely, completely different game.

7:20Justin: Yeah.

7:21Andrew: Okay. So then the Rangers did score 45 seconds after Kingston got the first goal of the game.

7:26Justin: Yep.

7:27Andrew: And then Kingston scored less than a minute later. So we had three goals in what, two and a half minutes.

7:32Justin: Yeah. It was a fast and fiery start in Kingston.

7:36Andrew: the Aud was a little quieter until the second. Grizz tied it up again in the second with just a purely hard working

7:42Justin: goal end to the season.

7:44Andrew: You talked about this a couple of weeks ago. These guys getting 10 goals is unbelievable.

7:48Justin: If you have that kind of depth, that's championship depth. That's quite literally. If you have guys playing bottom six scoring double digits, that's quite literally the difference between being a good team and a great team.

8:01Justin: Cameron Arquette got an assist on that one.

8:03Andrew: Yeah.

8:04Justin: And Max, he had an assist too. And he's been playing really well lately.

8:08Andrew: He has been playing really well. Very quietly in the background doing his thing, making a difference.

8:14Justin: Yeah. That's the greatest compliment you can give defensive defenseman.

8:19Justin: Is I didn't notice you.

8:23Justin: Because we had the puck when you were out there and so you weren't really. You were making any mistakes.

8:28Andrew: And then we got to the third and I really. It was a tie game. I really didn't see any push out of the Rangers in the third.

8:37Justin: Yeah. Remember last week we were talking about the shot AudPod The Rangers had great shot AudPod in the first two periods. Yeah. It's again, it's not a metric that perfectly describes the flow of the game because there's good shots and then there's poor shots. Right. But shots generally indicate that you have possession. And they only had six shots in the third period. And. And it was a tie game.

9:04Andrew: It was a tie game.

9:05Justin: Kingston didn't score until 16 minutes into the period.

9:08Andrew: Yeah.

9:08Justin: It was tight game.

9:09Andrew: They should have had some push. And then there was no push. And then they got into penalty trouble at the end of the period. And that's what really sealed the deal for. For Kingston is they got a timely power play and they scored.

9:22Justin: Yeah. And it was like you look at it and it's a couple of tripping penalties like that. Honestly, you don't want to say that. Like all tripping penalties are lazy.

9:30Andrew: For sure. I. I do think this one was accidental. But also you can't have those accidents in a tie game.

9:36Justin: Yeah.

9:37Andrew: With a third.

9:37Justin: Five minutes left in the third.

9:39Andrew: Yeah, exactly.

9:39Justin: That's just not. You can't do it. So both of these goals late in the third were power play goals and they obviously they won four to two.

9:48Justin: Not only that, it's a couple of 30 goal scorers that buried it in the third, like of course they've got the horses to do that.

11:21Justin: The Rangers actually did have the first goal but then 30 seconds later gave up a goal. So there was a bit of a weird trend in this three game series of goals coming in bunches like grapes

11:32Andrew: like front neck grapes like goals coming in front. Next.

11:36Justin: Then the Rangers just out talented. Can you out talent someone. I think they did.

11:41Andrew: I think Parsons had a big part to play in this. Our. What did we call him? The very lovely little bro. Yes, the positive little bro.

11:52Andrew: Our brotherly love of Pinelli and Whitehead were very. They're very good. Like very good. Like Parsons shut them down a couple times. But a lesser goal he wouldn't have been able to.

12:05Justin: But he didn't have to do much in the third. They're already down a couple goals in the third. Very early.

12:12Justin: And they only had two shots. Yeah. So the Rangers just clamped down.

12:29Justin: It was two to one after one and it was three to one after two. And then quite literally a minute into the third period, it was four to one.

12:36Andrew: And they didn't even wake up after that.

12:38Justin: Yeah.

12:39Andrew: And then we went to Peterborough.

12:42Justin: Yes. Because we're having weather events.

12:45Andrew: Weather events. So the game was delayed.

12:47Justin: I'm guessing they got off the bus and got in their gear.

12:50Andrew: Yeah. Probably not the greatest way to start a game.

12:53Justin: Also, however. Also way they started the game.

12:56Andrew: Yes. Was good. It was okay. But before we get into that, what's with the corners in Peterborough? the Soo boxy and square.

13:05Justin: Oh. Like at the rink.

13:07Andrew: They have a weird rink.

13:08Justin: Yeah. The corners.

13:09Andrew: Every corner in Peterborough is a rink in the corner.

13:13Justin: Yes. Junior hockey, I think.

13:15Andrew: Is that it? There's not a standard ring size in junior hockey.

13:18Justin: There is. I think it adheres to a standard ring size. I think it's just a weird board configuration.

13:23Andrew: Yeah. I don't know. It's. It looks so strange. And also the. The. The puck does not roll around the exterior of the boards. Like, it doesn't.

13:35Justin: Yeah. I think that, like, the ice surface is the same size. Because it would have to be.

14:00Justin: The first two were inside the first five minutes. And the first one came 50 seconds into the games and it was Carson Campbell. Beauty. We highlighted him last episode.

14:10Justin: He got a goal and it was nice. It was a little put back kind of thing.

14:14Justin: And all these goals were hardworking goals. Vermeulen had that kind of rebound goal on the third goal.

14:20Justin: And he has 12 on the year. Like, we're talking about depth, scoring. This is unbelievable. Jack Pridham, who came out, literally came out of the BCHL and only played part of the season. He has 19.

14:32Justin: This is insane. The base he's on.

14:34Justin: The only sad thing is that he didn't have a full OHL career because his numbers would be stupid.

14:39Andrew: Unbelievable. Yeah, for sure. And then. Oh, I don't know if I said this at the beginning. We played Peterborough. We lost four, five to three.

14:45Justin: The Pete's are bad.

14:46Andrew: And the Pete's are bad.

14:47Justin: You shouldn't be losing to them.

14:48Andrew: They might have now passed 12.

14:50Justin: They've been on a little run. But this doesn't excuse.

14:53Justin: This horrific. Not only that. Everything about this game was just bad.

15:01Andrew: Let me tell you about the second period. I'm gonna paint the picture because if you watch the highlights, you can't see it. They didn't show any of this.

15:35Justin: And Ando was shooken up. Like.

15:37Andrew: I'm glad he was. Okay, fine. But then next shift, Reed is out there prearranged, nodding at each other. Fight McCallum and Reed.

15:47Justin: Yes. Reed went to go collect the bounty.

15:50Andrew: Correct. Everybody knew the hockey code was in effect. Everything was happening.

15:54Justin: If that was your first game and you were there, you knew what was going on.

15:58Andrew: McCallum didn't drop the gloves immediately. No, he waited.

16:01Justin: He waited.

16:01Andrew: And so then Reed drops his gloves, gets the instigator penalty. So now we are immediately on the penalty kill.

16:08Justin: Yes.

16:08Andrew: But when we should have had a power play from this whole thing.

16:11Justin: Yes.

16:12Andrew: Because it should have been a headshot.

16:13Justin: It should have been a five minute. It could have been reviewed for five minutes.

16:16Andrew: Then our bad boy re signed Brad Flynn assistant coach loses it on the ref. Rightfully so. I would have lost it too. I was losing it at home.

16:28Justin: That sequence was strange because we didn't really see.

16:31Andrew: We couldn't see it from the video.

16:32Justin: See Brad Flynn lose it.

16:34Justin: I did however see the Pete's coach going nuts.

16:39Justin: And then all of a sudden they' back to play and they're just kicking

16:52Andrew: Hey, we have to just pause here. You are frozen on your screen. We are back from our technical issues and we just talked about Brad Flynn getting tossed for losing his mind.

17:04Andrew: Okay the Soo Brad Flynn gets tossed. He gets a game misconduct. So then the Rangers get another two minute penalty.

17:11Andrew: So now it's a two minute five. On three.

17:14Andrew: For Kingston, when Ando got hit in the head.

17:18Justin: Yes. This all started with a headshot that was not penalized.

17:22Andrew: And of course, the Pete score. You're on a five, on three for two minutes. It's.

17:25Justin: It just felt like that. Right. It was like no matter what, they were just going to score.

17:29Andrew: Yeah. And then the Pete's had the momentum for the rest of the game. That's how I felt about it.

17:34Justin: And I felt like the Rangers were upset. Yep, justifiably. Yep. Lechar got a undisciplined penalty.

17:42Andrew: He did.

17:43Justin: He literally threw a forearm shiver, as they call it.

17:46Andrew: Oh, yeah, the old forearm shiver.

17:49Justin: Right to the face of some guy during a play.

17:52Andrew: Yep.

17:52Justin: Yeah, there was a few things that just. It just felt like the wheels fell off and that was it. There's games like that.

18:00Andrew: Yep. And then the Rangers did get like a very late power play, but then that essentially just allowed the Pete's to shoot the puck at the empty net

18:10Andrew: Without icing for two minutes.

18:12Justin: Yeah.

18:12Andrew: And they got the first one, so.

18:14Justin: Yeah.

18:15Andrew: Yeah. So there. That was the Pete's game.

18:18Justin: That was the Pete's game.

18:18Andrew: That was our weekend. It's a good, the bad and the ugly weekend, Andrew. Because we lost 2 and 1 1.

18:25Andrew: So what's your good?

18:27Justin: Okay. Almost as a joke, I thought I could do the good, the bad and the ugly. The good as the Ottawa 67's game,

18:34Andrew: the bad as the Kingston game, and the ugly Peterborough. I'll accept it.

18:39Justin: However, I'll go a little more in depth. I'll say that the good was the fast start and the answering back. Yeah. So I felt like that was the good. It happened in both games or all three games to some degree. And yeah, I felt they're lethal. Obviously the game where they had the best start, it all fell apart. That was a very isolated instance. But even in the other two games, they had decent starts.

19:07Justin: Good start, strong start. And being able to answer back quickly was the positive.

19:12Andrew: Yeah, very positive. Okay, good. My good was Cameron Reid Just create. Not lots of opportunities. Goal in an assist against Ottawa. Even though I don't like to see him fight ever, I know he stood up for Ando.

19:26Justin: I appreciate that. I'm probably gonna get the C next year. Yeah, it makes sense.

19:31Andrew: It makes sense.

19:32Justin: But I also. I don't. I really don't like seeing him fight.

19:35Andrew: I don't.

19:35Justin: Him and Alanis. I love the fact that they're both beauties who will scrap, but we need them to play Hockey.

19:42Andrew: Yeah. Also that goal against Ottawa that he scored. I don't know how. He was like standing on the step by himself, drinking a lemonade in front of the net. Yeah. Nobody saw him. The goalie didn't know he was there. Nobody tap in. Boom. Done. Yep.

19:57Justin: Absolutely.

19:57Andrew: Easiest goal of his career.

19:59Justin: Yep.

19:59Andrew: What's your bad?

20:01Justin: My bad is the power play. They did have a couple power play goals against the Pete's. However, they didn't score on the power play when they actually needed.

20:15Andrew: When they needed it.

20:15Justin: Right. And in the other two games, the power play was anemic. They only had one opportunity against the Soo Yeah. But that would have. It would have been nice one to see them draw more penalties, I felt, because that game was never really close. the Soo kind of got the benefit of the doubt there.

20:34Justin: But mostly, really, this really reflects that. I feel like they lost the game because they went over four.

20:39Andrew: Yeah.

20:40Justin: Against the front necks.

20:41Andrew: Yep. My bad was also the power play for all those same reasons. And the thing like I said earlier, that luck line is so good when they're not on the power play. Yeah.

20:49Andrew: And the Aud your ugly?

20:50Justin: It's pretty obvious what my ugly was. Losing to a worse opponent because they got rattled and undisciplined.

20:58Andrew: Yeah.

20:59Justin: That's. I get it. I get that. It was all very unfair. I thought it was total bs.

21:05Andrew: Still can't happen.

21:06Justin: Need to need to beat the Pete's.

21:08Andrew: I. My ugly is. Is almost exactly the same. It's bad penalties in the third period.

21:13Justin: Yeah.

21:13Andrew: We took a lot of bad penalties in the third period this weekend. Even against Ottawa, we took a bad penalty in the third period and it was like, okay, let's. That's a thing that can be easily cleaned up just by a little bit of discipline.

21:24Justin: Yeah.

21:24Andrew: When you're getting towards the end of a game.

21:26Justin: Absolutely.

21:28Andrew: So then we got some games coming up. We come home on Friday, come home on Friday playing Barry. And then on Sunday we are in London.

21:37Justin: Oh.

21:38Andrew: And then on Tuesday we're home again against our dear old friends from Highway 7, which we Sam O'Reilly lot of to start the season. And then we haven't seen them in a long time. Yes. We're playing Guelph. Yes. And this is our second last three game weekend.
